Project Description

McKinley School | Union Park Market

The McKinley School is envisioned as an around the clock mixed-use development. The project will combine daytime office use with a lively mix of food, drink, and entertainment. A handful of small restaurants offer exciting meals at beautifully landscaped outdoor seating, and within the historic halls when winter arrives. An onsite brewery and distillery with production and taproom, makes a great gathering spot for friends. A music and event venue in the old warehouse brings great acts from Spokane and beyond to keep the energy going into the night.

Originally built in 1902 and named after president William McKinley, the historic elementary school closed in 1962. Since 1965 it has been used as a trucking and storage facility. Redevelopment will take advantage of its large site to bring a mixed use entertainment, retail and office destination to the Sprague Union District, supporting the city of Spokane’s $8M investment in public infrastructure along East Sprague Avenue and bringing amenities and jobs to a revitalization of the neighborhood.
